Important information about consultation fees

The doctors consulting from our mixed-billing practices are independent medical practitioners. Each doctor determines their own fees and billing arrangements. Fees may therefore vary between practice locations and doctors, as well as according to the length and complexity of the consultation. Consultation fees apply to face-to-face and telephone consultations.

Bulk billing is not routine. An independent doctor may choose to bulk bill an eligible consultation, in which case the Medicare benefit is accepted as full payment and the patient has no out-of-pocket cost. Bulk billing is not available before 8:00 am or after 5:00 pm on weekdays, or at any time on weekends. Previous bulk billing does not guarantee that future consultations will be bulk billed.

Some consultations and services may not attract a Medicare rebate.
