Doctors’ fees apply to all face to face and telephone consults. Doctors do not routinely bulk bill and previous bulk billing does not guarantee future bulk billing. Doctors do not offer bulk billing in the evenings or weekends.

Fees vary according to the time taken and the complexity of the consultation, these fees are determined by the independent Doctor and may vary between the Doctors.

Why is there a GAP?

The Federal Governments indexation of Medicare Rebates has not kept pace with inflation and the increasing costs for Doctors to run their medical practice.
In addition to this, the SA State Government has introduced an additional tax on GP clinics from 1st of July 2024.
Until Medicare Rebates sufficiently increase, Doctors have no option but to charge additional fees in order to adequately cover the costs incurred to provide high quality medical care and services.
